Contents Page (p.3)

Adverts: look at selection
Chain of Hope Advert - white saviour complex? - "special" - tries to make the reader feel special, as if they're the only one who can help - emotive language?;
Grayson perry letter:
The language used is quite informal, even swear words; the eccentric vocabulary reflects Perry's persona
As The Big Issue has taken Perry for an interview, so they agree with his liberal, left-wing views.
Has a picture with his family - a very unconventional situation, however seeing a happy family could help the audience accept the difference in perry's family.
The BI expects a preferred reading on their articles from their audience, as they openly show disagreement with right wing views
Look at choice of language,themes and topics layout, images,colour etc. and how that informs/entertains the audience and gives clues to the magazine's editorial position and ideology
